I received an email from Dr. Liau at UCLA and she has recommended that I proceed with radiation at this point. The tumor has grown only slightly since February, but since the chemotherapy hasn’t controlled the growth, she’s concerned about more growth. This news is a little devastating. It’s not a card that we wanted to play right now. It can only be done once and it is usually quite damaging, considering that your cognitive functioning is being radiated. I have a phone conference setup on Wednesday with her so that we can discuss things further. I have many questions before making this decision. I’ll probably make a decision by Wednesday, so I’ll post then what that is. Please pray for comfort and wisdom right now. So appreciative for all of you…

Charysse…loving you and praying for you. I’m so sorry about your news. This really sucks. What a beautiful webiste, by the way. Wow. If there’s anything I can do…still wanna do coffee?
praying…….
Our dear Charysse, yes we are praying and continue to pray. I know you are expressing your deep faith in God even as you share this update with all of us. Cling to God’s promises, He will never leave you or forsake you. My favorite verse these past weeks has been from Isaiah 41:13 ” For I am the Lord God Almighty who takes you by the right hand and says ‘do not fear, I will help you”. We love you. May God give you will His grace, peace and love as you walk through these next days. Give our love to Marvin and the boys.
Believe it or not, I’m thankful…
* Thankful that we aren’t getting a report that the tumor has grown significantly
* thankful that we are talking about radiating a small area, not a large one due to significant tumor growth—thus limiting the effects of radiation
* thankful that the radiation could kill this tumor all together
* thankful that you have the Hesse’s around to comfort you while the Chowning’s are scattered across the country
* thankful that we serve a God whose plans are far greater than we know and understand
* thankful that you serve God with great determination and enthusiasm, which gives you and us hope, peace and perseverance
but most of all…thankful for the inspiration that you are giving to all of us to be aware of our health, to live life full of meaning and to live beyond ourselves
I love you sis.
